Clinton partners, Ark. Governor charged

James McDougal and Susan McDougal were charged with bank fraud and conspiracy, while Arkansas Jim Guy Tucker was charged with fraud for actions discovered during the Whitewater investigation. The actions are not related to the Clintons, who were the initial subjects of the investigation.

Whitewater affair: Hale sentenced as fraud trial begins

David Hale received a 28-month sentence for defrauding $2 million from the government through small business loans. He accused Pres Clinton of pressuring him to give a loan to the McDougals, whose fraud trial began in Mar 1996. Tucker faces fraud charges for a cable television venture.

Whitewater affair: president ordered to testify

Article Abstract:

A Little Rock, AK, judge ruled that Pres Clinton must testify in the bank fraud trial of Susan and James B McDougal. Attorneys for the McDougals had subpoenaed Clinton to rebut charges made by former judge David L Hale. Clinton might be allowed to give his testimony via satellite TV.
