Article Abstract:

International standards for teletex, the communications system between word processors and microcomputers, encompass the conversion codes for transmission, buffer storage at the reception site, character-set, and carrier service. A comparison of the features of teletex and telex are given. Descriptions of recent products in the communication field include OTC's Minerva electronic mailbox compatible with both United States Dialcom and the British Telecom Gold, Telecom's Automatic Call Distributor telephone processing and queueing system, and the Voca TS 160 Automatic Telephone Call Sequencer telephone management system, plus others.

Word Processing: Telex Tape Preparation Time Cut

Article Abstract:

Standard Telephone and Cables Pty Ltd has interfaced a word processor to the TELEX machine at Travenol Laboratories Pty Ltd of Toongabbie, Sydney. TELEX tapes can be prepared faster on the word processor than on the TELEX machine. Tapes can then be fed in bulk periodically into the machine, leaving the machine free to receive messages. Money is also saved by correcting mistakes on the word processor rather than the TELEX. Tapes can be read back into the word processor for copying.
