Counsel to probe Gingrich ethics charges

Article Abstract:

The House Ethics Committee decided a special counsel should be appointed to investigate Gingrich on allegations he violated tax laws in connection with a college course he began teaching in 1993. The committee decided against taking any actions concerning other charges against Gingrich.

Gingrich responds to book-deal charges

Article Abstract:

Gingrich was criticized for accepting a $4.5 million contract to write and edit books about political philosophy. The House is expected to initiate an investigation into the ethics of the deal, even though Gingrich cancelled it. Other possible ethics violations are described.
