December '95 jobless rate remained 5.6%

The unemployment rate remained the same for Nov 1995 and Dec 1995, at 5.6%. Analysts claimed the stagnation is due to weakening economic conditions, while Pres Clinton said the figures show the economy is still strong. A demographic breakdown of employment statistics is included.

Jobless rate fell to 5.4% in April

Article Abstract:

A US Labor Department survey in April 1996 shows that unemployment dropped from 5.6% in March to 5.4%. Job growth was only by 2,000, most of which were public employment, but the number of people seeking work dropped. 126.10 million people were employed in April 1996.
