Downsizing: a doorway to opportunity

Article Abstract:

Downsizing has become an unavoidable part of the business cycle, including the information technology business, despite the rapid economic growth. Labor shortage is believed to rise to its fullest after the Y2K fever is gone. Job security became a thing of the past due to corporate mergers, global market efforts, bottom-line economics and shareholder demands. The business community tend to ignore the economic realities that it needs to attend to instead of resorting to layoffs.

Real-time training: a remedy for change

Article Abstract:

Some organizational changes such as downsizing, outsourcing and decentralization led to the perception of the wide gap between learning theory and common training practice. Although training has a significant role of preparing workers to face an unpredictable economy, training has to be effective. Therefore, training has to be provided with a learning atmosphere that focuses on how people learn from people at work.

What factors are impacting IT's effectiveness?

Article Abstract:

The increasing information technology (IT) demands are causing pressure to IT managers to strengthen their operations and adapt to the rapid pace required by the business environment. To achieve this, the relationship between the business community and IT and the effects of one to the other should be understood by IT managers. Failure to do so means failure to improve effectiveness of IT to its fullest.
