Effective business decision making

Article Abstract:

The decision-making process (DMP) is a model that managers can use to help them assess all the factors involved in making an important decision. The DMP model includes five stages: knowing the need to adapt to changes in the business environment, offering proposals on how to adapt to these changes, creating guidelines or standards for choosing the best proposal, assessing all the proposals and selecting one proposal. By understanding the DMP model, managers can effectively convey their ideas, promote group efficiency, save time and gain their associates' esteem.

Incremental models of policy formulation and non-incremental changes: critical review and synthesis

Article Abstract:

Recent research has focused on two leading models of incrementalism and four explanations for non-incremental policy making. On this basis, work was undertaken on a model for policy formulation which combines incremental and non-incremental models. Additional research should be undertaken into the performance implications of the various models of policy making under various organisational and environmental contexts.
