Effects of Executive Characteristics and Venture Capital Involvement on Board Composition and Share Ownership in IPO Firms

Article Abstract:

Cognitive capacity, non-executive director incentives, and board independence are negatively related with power and experience of executive directors, while large-block share ownership is positively related to the diversity and intensity of non-executive experience. Implications for research on threshold-firm board development processes are discussed.

More than a metaphor: organizational identity makes organizational life possible

The authors examine the importance of organizational identity in the interrelationship between socially structured organizational member psychology and the social facts of organizational structure. Studying organizational identity as both a theoretical and applied construct is key to understanding organizational behavior.

Sustained monopolistic business relationships: an interdisciplinarity case

A monopolistic environment is examined through the framework of transaction cost economics, relationship marketing, and supply-chain management theories, applied to the United Kingdom's defense program procurement process. Key factors in monopolistic relationship dynamics are identified and discussed.
