Effects of changing economic conditions on managerial job changes and careers

Article Abstract:

Recent research into the impact of changing economic conditions on the career development of managers is based on an age-controlled analysis of job changes made by a sample of UK managers. Results indicate that managers are moving away from proactive, career-based upward moves and towards moves which respond to new conditions, such as redundancy, and are sometimes sideways or downwards. It is clear that social and economic changes may it hard for managers to plan a definite career path.
