Electronic pen comes with its own eraser

Article Abstract:

Wacom Technology Corp introduces its ArtZ II graphics tablet for Apple Macintosh computers. A six-by-eight model is priced at $389 and larger models are priced at $540 to $2,500. The pen-based system features a cordless pen that enables users to draw and paint and also includes the capability to erase. The eraser application currently only works with several graphics programs but more applications will eventually be added. The pen is pressure-sensitive on both ends, meaning that the harder the user presses, the thicker the line or the more intense the erasing effect on the image. The Wacom pen is an expensive but excellent alternative to using a mouse because it is much easier and more accurate for moving the cursor on the screen.

Building smarter mice

Article Abstract:

The Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer computer pointing device uses a small digital camera instead of a trackball to position the pointer. This makes for more accurate positioning of the mouse, a feature users like graphic artists would appreciate. The mouse comes with 5 buttons, 2 are user programmable. It also has a finger manipulated scroll wheel, useful for navigating Web documents. It requires no mousepad, unless used on a glass surface (in which case the positioning camera doesn't work).
