Environmental industry

Article Abstract:

The stocks of companies in the waste-hauling industry fell with declining prices for recycled paper, but earnings are expected to rise 10% during the latter years of the 1990s. Both USA Waste Services Inc. and United Waste Systems Inc. are expected to report 30% earnings increases. Stock prices of water treatment firms are also expected to grow, as well as those of companies that provide environmental remediation services, such as OHM Corp. and Allwaste Inc. Leading companies in the environmental category offer timely investments.

Environmental industry

Article Abstract:

Potential investors in the environmental services industry should examine individual stocks for timely choices. Different segments of the industry are experiencing different conditions, with many of the waste hauling companies hurt by declining profits, and smaller companies in the hazardous waste treatment industry profiting from the rapid consolidation of the industry. Ionics is well positioned out to 2001 in the expanding water purification service segment.
