Exploring start-up event sequences

Article Abstract:

Interviews of nascent entrepreneurs were conducted between 1992 and 1993 to identify patterns in the start-up of new business enterprises. Nascent entrepreneurs are those who have taken steps to establish businesses but have yet to actualize them. Nascent entrepreneurs can be divided into three categories, namely, those who have started business, those who have given up and those who are still trying. Results showed that nascent entrepreneurs should take steps to actualize their ventures to immediately determine whether such endeavors are worthwhile. Successful entrepreneurs have common behavior patterns which strongly influence their chances of success.

Words lead to deeds: towards an organizational emergence vocabulary

Article Abstract:

The study of entrepreneurship requires a suitable vocabulary that would facilitate analysis and theory-building as well as prevent confusion. Several words and their definitions with respect to entrepreneurship are presented. The words include being, which means something that exists, circumstance, which means a conditionthat determines another event or fact, and emerge, which means to become manifest or to come into being.
