Fast-food passion out of fashion

Article Abstract:

Australia's fast-food restaurant industry has undergone marketing changes to counter a flat growth level and competition from supermarkets and fast-food convenience stores. Between 1996 and 1998, annual fast-food restaurant sales were stalled at $7.4 billion. However, the six largest fast-food restaurants still account for a 42% market share of the fast foods industry. To attract more sales, marketing efforts have included the introduction of promotions, healthier food, menu innovations, unique restaurant environments, and customer-loyalty incentives.
