Qantas's new low-cost carrier Jetstar has revealed the guiding principles behind the new airline calling them the three Cs such as lowest cost, avoiding management and avoiding the cannibalization of the main Qantas routes. With the help of these principles, it hopes to avoid the unhappy experience of overseas full-service carriers that attempted to launch low-cost airlines to compete with low-cost rivals.

The stock price of the budget airliner Virgin Blue were at $1.95, less than the issue price of $2.25, soon after even it announced results of above expectations profit of $158.5 million. The competition posed by Qantas with its low prices airliner and rising oil prices does not paint a better picture for the future of this airliner.
