Full inquiry sought in Iraq/BNL scandal

The House Judiciary is considering a full inquiry into the role of the Bush Administration in providing aid to Iraq. Rep Henry B. Gonzalez has urged an investigation, claiming that the administration is impeding a probe of bank fraud by the Atlanta, GA, branch of the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro.

Iraqi loan scandal: moves taken toward special counsel

The special prosecutor investigating allegations that the Bush administration did not take the appropriate actions in the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro fraud case involving loans to Iraq said he would speed up his inquiry as a step toward the naming of an independent counsel in the case.

Bush administration assailed in Iraq loan probe
