Gates denies knowing about development of software at Microsoft

Article Abstract:

Federal prosecutors played a 30-minute portion of Microsoft Chmn Bill Gates' videotaped deposition, which depicted a combative Gates denying knowledge of any company efforts to sabotage Sun Microsystems' Java programming language. Gates angrily denied involvement in a key part of the government's antitrust trial against the software giant, but acknowledged that Microsoft could have perceived Java as a threat to its Windows OS dominance. The government has routinely showed parts of Gates' taped deposition before presiding Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson, then attempted to contradict Gates through the testimony of new trial witnesses. Microsoft denied charges that it deliberately introduced proprietary Java technology, which then prevented Java from attaining its promise of delivering full cross-platform capability. A Microsoft spokesman said the company instead sought to make technological improvements that would benefit consumers.

Article Abstract:

Lotus wants consumers to realize there are choices out there besides Microsoft products and its own product could raise your capabilities to the Superman level, even if you are a woman. The upgraded Notes software is called R5 and the ad campaign is to, by, and for mostly multicultural women, not white males like Clark Kent.
