Gribbles saga not over

Article Abstract:

The $285 million acquisition of the Gribbles Group, a pathology company by Healthscope that paid $120 million cheque to Wallace Cameron and his family is presented. Inspite of the deal Healthscope is debating over $2.8 million payment, which, Cameron says, was made in 2003. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission's investigation of the Cameron's shareholding in Gribbles is also discussed.

As the consolidation of the health sector provides an expanded range of benefits, new ventures are not seen much in the market.

Expansion is the Mayne game

Peter Smedley, chief executive of Australian healthcare company Mayne Nickless, has plans to expand his company. Smedley has turned the company round and in May 2001 he put in a bid to acquire F.H. Faulding.
