Demand for hotel rooms has been good with the high rate of pleasure and business travel in the US and room rates have also been increased in order to compensate for the increased room supply. New casinos have opened in Las Vegas, NV, and industry consolidation and the separation of the casino and hotel business sectors are two emerging trends in 1999. These stocks are mid-range for timeliness in 1999, but Mirage Resorts Inc and Hilton Hotels Corp have price appreciation potential.
