Hotel/gaming industry

Article Abstract:

The lack of new hotel construction is dissipating the hotel room glut of the 1980's, and hotel occupancy and prices are increasing. Market brand names are important for hotels in terms of customer perceptions, and several hotel chains are also expanding into related areas. Profits for casinos are good in Atlantic City, NJ, Las Vegas, NV, and other markets due to high demand. There are several timely stocks in the hotel/gaming industry for investment.

Hotel/gaming industry

Article Abstract:

The overcapacity created in the 1980's in the hotel industry has decreased, as there has been little new hotel construction in the 1990's. However, the limited service sector has seen more building activity. The stigmas against gambling have eroded, and casinos in Las Vegas, NV, and Atlantic City, NJ, are having a resurgence, though new construction may cause a glut. Investors should consider only strongly-focused stocks in this volatile industry.

Hotel/gaming industry

Article Abstract:

There are opportunities for expansion and growth in the hospitality industry created by cultural and demographic trends. International Game Technology and Hilton Hotels Corp both have new chief executive officers. Occupancy has been rising at hotels, and the gambling industry has stabilized with Las Vegas, NV, and Atlantic City, NJ, casinos doing well. Mirage and Marriott are timely choices for investment, but other stocks are risky for 1996.
