House passes HHS/Labor/Education funds

A $256 billion FY 1996 appropriations bill for the departments of Labor, Education, and Health and Human Services was passed on Aug 4, 1995 by a vote of 219-208. House Republicans succeeded in cutting or eliminating several education and social service programs.

House passes five-year, $189 billion tax cut

Article Abstract:

A bill that would reduce tax revenues by $189 billion from 1995-2000, was passed by the House on Apr 5, 1995, by a vote of 246-188. If passed by the Senate, the bill would increase tax credits for children by $500 and cut spending on welfare programs.
