Abortion restrictions reversed

Article Abstract:

Pres Clinton on Jan 22, 1993, voided five restrictions on abortion that had been implemented by the two previous Republican presidents. The restrictions included the prohibition of discussing abortion at federally funded clinics except by doctors and the ban on abortions in military hospitals.

House votes to ban abortion procedure

Article Abstract:

A bill making it a crime for doctors to perform an abortion procedure called intact dilation and evacuation passed the House on Nov 1, 1995, by a vote of 288-139. The rare procedure is usually reserved for late term fetuses with severe birth defects. Pres Clinton says he will veto the measure.

Abortion: Clinton vetoes late-term method ban

Article Abstract:

Pres Clinton vetoed a bill on Apr 10, 1996, that would have banned partial-birth abortion, a rare procedure that is used in late-term pregnancies. Clinton says he vetoed the measure because it did not provide an exemption for when a woman's health is threatened.
