How do I create my own home page?

Article Abstract:

Many people have already created home pages on the Web, and ten suggestions are presented to help with creating a home page. The process is relatively simple and begins when individuals decide they truly want to create a home page. Then they must determine what they want to put on the page. Third, it is important to understand that a Web home page is basically a computer file featuring text or graphics and commands created in HTML that is placed on a server system linked to the Internet. The page receives a URL, which is the address by which Web users find a page. Other suggestions include how to organize material, implement the page and improve a page with graphics or other enhancements. In addition, suggestions are provided for individuals who need to publicize their sites either by word-of-mouth or by getting a site included in an Internet directory such as Yahoo!.

TV-station Web sites grab classified ads

Article Abstract:

US network-TV affiliate stations increasingly are promoting classified advertising on the Internet's World Wide Web. The development represents a direct challenge to local newspapers' monopoly of the $15 billion US annual market. Westinghouse Electric's CBS is expected to unveil classified advertising on 10 of its network affiliates, including those in New York, San Francisco and Boston. CBS is collaborating with Classifieds2000, which publishes classified ads on the Web, to offer subject listings such as real estate and employment opportunities. Years of Web advertising have not reached fruition, but classified ads' convenience may attract more users. Worldwide users can quickly browse ads in specific areas of interest, instead of reading smaller-print newspaper listings. Increased competition may reduce prices and erode classifieds' lucrative profit margins.
