'IP' sales: the Internet can still coin money

Article Abstract:

Internet protocol network services, which combine data, voice, the Internet and private networks, have become the fastest-growing segment of the telecommunications industry, and are proving resistant to the industry's downturn. The robust demand for such services is due to the promise of higher productivity and lower expenses for business clients. Thanks to 'IP' services, Finland Post's call center's workers have increased the number of calls they handle by 500,000 a year, while the center's expenses for telecom equipment have plummeted 41%. Further savings have been achieved by spreading the office over three separate - and less expensive - locations.
