Are you getting the most from your life insurance?

Article Abstract:

The considerable cost of life insurance coverage makes it necessary for such insurance policies to be carefully and regularly reviewed. The issues that policyholders need to examine include the current owners and beneficiaries of the policies, the impact of new estate tax options on the holder's insurance needs, and the dividends from these policies. Other questions that should be considered are the impact of recent and past tax legislation and the types of business and retirement insurance that can avail of tax deductions.

Ideas to increase and protect your wealth

Article Abstract:

Life insurance policies given to family members are non-taxable. However, life insurance policies sold or transferred for a value have tax consequences since these are categorized by the IRS as taxable income to the beneficiaries. The IRS' Transfer for Value Rules, contained in the Internal Revenue Code Section 101(a)(2), should be first reviewed before transferring or selling any life insurance policy.
