Incorporating learning curve analysis into medium-term capacity planning procedures: a simulation experiment

Article Abstract:

The hypothetical example involves a firm that is aided by a learning curve analysis of its medium-range capacity planning methods and the results of information aggregation on predictions for the learning curve capacity. The analysis of each issue involves a simulation study that lists the related production and information characteristics. These variables of production are examined: learning rate mix, run-time variance, average learning rate, and run-time distribution.

Optimal capacity expansion planning when there are learning effects

Article Abstract:

Whenever there is learning involved, it is difficult to examine capacity and production expansion decisions. Later production is not as expensive, and sometimes more profitable, though the firm must be able to sustain great initial production expenses. Mixed integer programming models are given that optimize coordinated production and also capacity expansion plans despite the effects of learning.

The multiregion dynamic capacity expansion problem: an improved heuristic

Article Abstract:

The least-cost schedule for the capacity expansions planned for various production regions can be used to resolve the demands in various markets. Manne has pioneered the research in this area. The SLOT heuristic method is based on mostly constant cycle policies used to terminate the problem under the basic factors of linearly increasing market demands and stationary expenses.
