Industrial relations in Norway: past, present and future

Article Abstract:

As more foreign corporations conduct business in Norway (due in large part to the country's oil reserves), an understanding of industrial relations in that country becomes more important to the international business community. A history of Norway's industrial relations is examined, noting the country's emphasis on cooperation rather than confrontation, the nation's high standard of living, and that the spirit of cooperation could be adversely affected by the prospects of great wealth in Norway's petroleum industries.

International dimensions of managing technology

Article Abstract:

Strategic networks and industrial alliances have become increasingly common, especially among international companies. The results of a study of 73 European firms suggests that management, especially upper management, does not play a major part in the technological process. Technology tends to be the force behind both management and companies. The results of previous studies have shown that firms often fail because they either fail to adopt new technologies or are slow in adopting technology.
