Information technology and screen-based securities trading: pricing the stock and pricing the trade

Article Abstract:

The development of information technology-based trading systems for stock exchanges and alternative electronic trading sites have spurred screen-based securities trading for stock investors. These innovations have significantly reduced order entry, search and other related costs and intensified competition between securities dealers. However, the tools used by supplier intermediaries to evaluate stock prices and trading risks have been virtually eliminated. This problem can be solved by adopting an information systems model based on risk-based pricing. This model allows the computation of trading costs for various investor types and simulates dealer interaction with the order flow process.

Analysis of names and relationships among data elements

Article Abstract:

When researching business issues that require decisions, managers usually refer to their information systems for data; however, they frequently find that the phrasing of the search question, the organization of the database, and the type of technology used by the system affect the data and the data's reliability. Consequently, a standard syntax for information storage and retrieval is needed. The syntax method considered for standardization purposes is described in terms of the elements of the data contained in the system and the mathematical relationships among these data elements.
