Article Abstract:

Investor interest in the Internet industry has declined in the first half of 1999, and some of the stocks have decreased in value by a factor of 40% to 50% since 1998. Many of these companies remain unprofitable in 1999 in spite of the rapid revenue growth in the industry, and industry mergers and acquisitions are expected to increase in 1999 and the year 2000. Only the most risk-tolerant and aggressive investors should consider these stocks, even with the recent decline in share prices.
