Investment co. (domestic) industry

Article Abstract:

Closed-end equity funds are ignored by investors and brokers and have large differences in discounts and premiums as a result. Profits may be made by investors if they seek these discounts and premiums regularly. Demand is thin, however, since there may be too many funds. Equity funds are good investments if discounts are larger than 20%, or they make regular annual distributions. Several funds are now good selections for investment. Company reports on major investment companies are presented.

Investment co. (domestic) industry

Article Abstract:

Closed-end mutual funds have underperformed the market in the 1990s. Stock brokers have not been interested in these companies, instead preferring their own, resulting in wide discounts for these funds. Value measures, which are published often, and fixed capitalization are two closed-end mutual fund standards. H and Q Healthcare Investors is one closed-end fund in which speculators may have some long-term interest.

Investment co. (domestic) industry

Article Abstract:

Domestic investment companies may provide solid investment opportunities, given the recent lack of investor interest in such companies. Wide discount margins and an upward trend in utility stock prices signal a good time to buy into domestic closed-end investment funds. Discounts seemed to reach their widest point towards the end of 1994, and utility stock prices have since begun to climb.
