Investment co. (foreign) industry

Article Abstract:

Prices for exported goods from Asia and the Pacific Rim have fallen due to the deflationary spiral in Asia, and lower rates of growth are expected in the Asian/Pacific Rim economies in 1998. However, there is considerable strengh in the European economies, and there may be some real values in the Latin American stock markets for investors. Several European and Latin American funds are worth considering, in spite of potential problems.

Investment co. (foreign) industry

Article Abstract:

Foreign investment in Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand has led to a speculative economic boom, but Thailand's devaluation of the baht has also led to a selloff in other currencies and an uncertain future in Asia. Latin American stocks have performed well in 1997, after the devaluation of the Mexican peso, but currency risk remains here, also. Investors need to evaluate individual equity funds prior to making commitments.

Investment co. (foreign) industry

Article Abstract:

Europe could become a major economic colossus after the euro is adopted as the single currency for 11 nations in Western Europe on Jan 1, 1999, and many investors are viewing the situation in a positive manner. However, the Asian economic situation is still difficult and investors need to be patient for the next several years. There are a number of closed-end funds which are timely for investors in 1998.
