Knowledge acquisition, knowledge loss, and satisfaction in high technology alliances

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine the way learning intent, opportunities to learn, and a firmEs ability to learn facilitate or hinder three alliance outcomes, namely, knowledge acquisition by the firm local, knowledge loss to the partner, and alliance satisfaction, focusing on the organizational learning and transition cost economies (TCE) concept. It is concluded that a partnerEs learning intent and ability are positively associated with the extent to which a firm protects its own firm-specific knowledge, but they have only significant effects on one alliance outcome, knowledge loss.

The robustness of hierarchical Bayes conjoint analysis under alternative measurement scales

Article Abstract:

The different ways in which the use of the rank-ordered dependent variable affects the predictive validity of hierarchical Bayes (HB) estimation method in conjoint analysis are investigated by conducting extensive Monte Carlo simulations. The results show that the rank-ordered dependent variables does not affect the HB hit rate while it affects the HB root-mean-square error (RMSE) between the actual and the predicted market shares.
