Lawson helps Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center track careers
Article Abstract:
The human resources (HR) department of Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA, has become more closely involved in the management of the hospital by improving its job applicant tracking and career succession processes. In the past, the HR function concerned itself solely with recruitment, employee relations, paycheck issuance and employee benefit management. It was compelled to revamp its processes not only by the need for better HR and payroll systems, but the facility's rapid growth. The transformation of the HR department was made possible by the Lawson Software. This software was selected because it supports the department's vision, providing an open architecture and client-server capabilities. More importantly, the vendor provides technical support and low-cost system maintenance.

AMBAC's search for a new HR software system
Article Abstract:
AMBAC Inc's human resources (HR) department realized the need to replace the DOS-based product it was using to reflect the changing needs of the New York-based financial services company. The system it was relying on, HR/2000 from Spectrum Human Resources Systems, was no longer suitable because the company was shifting to a Windows environment and needed a software system compatible with Microsoft Word and Excel. The HR department evaluated a number of products and vendors, and finally decided to purchase the Microsoft-based HRVantage from its long-time vendor, Spectrum. Although the product's functional and technical features played a major part in its selection, it was Spectrum's solid record of excellent customer service that finally convinced AMBAC to choose the product.
