Manufactured housing/rec. vehicle

Article Abstract:

The motor home industry suffered from overproduction in the 1995-1996 period, and some dealers lost money. Sales of manufactured housing, which rose more than 10% a year during the 1995-1996 period, are expected to continue rising during the next few years. Higher federal standards for factory-built homes should give manufacturers an opportunity to take advantage of the housing shortage. Stocks of most companies in these industries should realize healthy earnings in both the near and long term.

Manufactured housing/rec vehicle

Article Abstract:

Product quality has increased in the manufactured housing industry through better design and stricter building codes. Easy mortgages and lower prices have made this housing more popular, and shipments are expected to increase 5%-10% in 1996. Recreational vehicle earnings are low due to large dealer inventories, however. Manufactured housing stocks will outperform, and recreational vehicles will underperform the market in 1996.

Manufactured housing/rec vehicle

Article Abstract:

An expanding customer base and available financing has increased market share for manufactured housing from 20% to 33% over the last two years. Shipments are expected to increase 10% in 1995 and 5%-10% in 1996. Motor home sales have decreased due to higher interest rates, but increased consumer spending in 1996 may reverse this. Manufactured housing stocks have outperformed the market and investors should remain here.
