Marketization and the delivery of UK health services: Three case studies

Article Abstract:

An overview of the marketization process in the United Kingdom National Health Service (UK NHS) is provided using three case studies to demonstrate the changes to service delivery that are implemented because of the introduction of the quasi-market and the resultant business interactions within the NHS. It is concluded that relationship management should be a key tool for health service managers.

The pharmacist as a drug information supplier in hospitals: a view from services marketing

Article Abstract:

Hospital pharmacists play smaller roles compared to subspecialized physicians and supporting medical specialists in providing drug information in hospitals. They are also found to be inefficient in areas of therapy choice and therapy implementation. On the other hand, hospital pharmacists are perceived as competent when it comes to cases involving diagnosis.

The effects of resource commitments on information reporting in international joint ventures (IJVs) are examined. An effective structure for feedback of IJV information that requires integration between the provision of technology and occupancy of relevant IJV management positions is suggested with the experience of the British parent companies.
