McDonnell Douglas signs Chinese deal

Article Abstract:

McDonnell Douglas Corp signed a contract with China to build 40 new jetliners for $1.2 billion. The planes will be manufactured in China, which has an option to buy a total of 150 jets. The company has postponed construction of the new MD-12 jumbo jet until at least 1993 due to lack of orders.

Boeing takes $12.7 billion air order

Article Abstract:

Boeing Co finalized a $12.7 billion contract with Singapore Airlines Ltd on Nov 14, 1995, one of the largest civilian aircraft orders on record. The contract calls for Boeing to produce 24 commercial jets by 2001, and options another 43 aircraft. Rolls-Royce PLC will produce the engines.
