Mentoring: traditional versus developmental

Article Abstract:

Organisations choose the type of mentoring system they require to fulfill both their employees and their business needs. Mentoring consists of supporting, informing and advising other employees. Managers perform these roles for their people in a limited way as they may conflict with their other tasks. Interaction between colleagues and workers from outside the company is a form of developmental mentoring. Mentoring can come from a senior manager who focuses on another employee. Whilst short term support for a specific time or through a problem are also types of mentoring.
