US economic conditions have been favorable for the metal products industry in 1999 and early in the year 2000, but the demand cycle may change in the near future. The end markets for this diverse industry are varied which better equips it for possible economic fluctuations. Several of these stocks are appealing for investors with a long-term horizon.

The economic environment for the metal fabricating industry remains sound in the year 2000 and demand for many of its products remains high. Many companies in this industry have diversified their operations in order to effectively deal with the cyclical nature of their customers. These stocks are mid-range for timeliness in the year 2000, and several have strong potential for the next three to five years.

The year 2001 is difficult for the metal fabricating industry these stocks are not timely. Demand for metal products by the aircraft and automotive industries may also slow in coming months. Several issues in this industry, however, have appreciation potential for the next three to five years.
