Article Abstract:
Although investing in apartment buildings was an apparently good investment in the 1970s, there are few good investments in apartment buildings left. Apartment buildings were especially popular investments in the so- called 'Sun Belt'. However, some real-estate funds are still finding good apartment-building investments in other parts of the country. The Houston apartment-building market, which has suffered a crash, may not be a representative market because of its lack of zoning.

The Prudential Insurance Co. of America has decided to open a public real-estate syndication. Called Prudential Acquisition Fund I, the new fund is aimed at the smaller investor. Although Prudential has sponsored many private funds, it has never sponsored a public fund. However, subsidiary Prudential-Bache Securities has been involved in several public funds. Both private and public real-estate funds have prospered in 1983.

Home Prices: Is a New Correction at Hand?
Article Abstract:
Many analysts believe home prices will remain low and stable in the early and mid-1980s, rather than rising to their late-1970s peak. However, the housing market has started to recover somewhat in the early 1980s. Many builders are trying to appeal more to first-time home buyers by building smaller, more affordable houses. Price- cutting by developers appears to be increasing slightly in late 1983.
