Work commitment in relation to withdrawal intentions and union effectiveness

Article Abstract:

The various forms of work commitments (WCs) are analyzed relative to withdrawal intentions and union effectiveness. The WCs examined include job, occupational, union and organization commitments. The analysis shows that almost all of the outcome variables are affected by WC forms. When job satisfaction is also considered, it contributes to the explained variance mainly in the case of withdrawal intentions.

Gender and attitudinal commitment to organizations: a meta-analysis

Article Abstract:

A meta-analysis of previous research on gender and attitudinal commitment to organizations provide little evidence to support the gender model of organizational commitment. Instead, the results are more in consonance with a job model of organizational commitment. These findings indicate that organizations may be able to win commitment from both female and male workers by providing equitable opportunities.
