Article Abstract:

The diversified natural gas industry consists of companies that produce, sell, process and transport natural gas. Statistics of some of the companies in the industry and their securities rankings as of December 17, 2004 are furnished. The diversified nature of the industry makes it difficult to take a call on its prospects. In general the sector will continue on its present course, though not with marked improvement, but some of the stocks from the sector are expected to record good appreciation.

Though 95% of the industry has fared very well since June 2004, investors are advised to examine the reports of individual companies rather than invest based on the consolidated industry's performance. Statistics of some of the companies in the industry and their securities rankings as of September 17, 2004 are furnished.
