Not alone in a cyberspace crowd

Article Abstract:

The small business sector of Australia is realizing that its World Wide Web sites on the crowded Internet are difficult to find, but small businesses are countering by developing online business communities. Twenty percent of small businesses have a Web page, and another 15% will by 2000. Small businesses are reorganizing into smaller industry-based, networked online groups called vertical portals in which members interact with each other to obtain information and services.

The revival of Red Rooster chain, after a big management restructuring by its new owners Frank Romano and Nick Tana of Australian Fast Foods is discussed. The chicken chain was bought by the duo from Coles Myer, and is now amongst the BRW top 500 private companies. The core of restructuring involved removal of the excess personnel from Coles Myer.
