A study by the National Foundation for Women Business Owners reveals that women-owned firms have a higher than average rate of remaining in business more than three years. These firms are financially sound and are moving into non-traditional areas. Tips from successful women are included.

Francis Voigt and John Dranow launched the New England Culinary Institute in 1980 with 7 students. They run the school like a medical school, providing students intensive, hands-on experience. The school earns $17 million in annual revenues.
