Banks tend to fund start-up companies only if they have a good business plan. Entrepreneur David Cupp was able to borrow $26,000 from Banc One for his Photos Online startup due to a business plan that detailed how his ideas would earn money.

The IRA question: to Roth or not to Roth

Many small business owners are finding that converting a conventional IRA to a Roth IRA is too expensive. If the conversion is done in 1998, taxes on the IRA can be spread over four years, but even that amount can be prohibitive for many.
