Pell declines 1996 Senate bid

Article Abstract:

Pell announced on Sep 5, 1995, that he would not seek another term in the Senate. He was the seventh Democratic Senator to decline a reelection bid since the Republican landslide in Nov 1994. Democratic Congressman Norman Y Mineta also announced his retirement effective Oct 10, 1995.

Study rates anti-AIDS drugs

Article Abstract:

A National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases study of 2,467 AIDS patients found that the use of didanosine (ddI) resulted in a lower death rates than treatment with zidovudine (AZT). The study also found that combining the two drugs increased effectiveness.
