Pension funds in trouble

Article Abstract:

The dismal financial condition of pension funds in U.S., Europe and Japan are discussed and compared. The old-styled defined-benefit plans and retiree health insurance, and the new defined-contribution plans are mentioned. The liabilities taken over by Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. (PBGC), a U.S. government agency that is an insurer of last resort for hopelessly broken pension plans are also discussed.
