Personal investors take a global tack

Article Abstract:

Australians are turning toward foreign financial markets for personal investments because domestic markets show lower returns and are less-diversified than international markets. Australian companies comprise slightly over 1% of international equities markets and are top-heavy in resources. From 1970 through 1998, the Australian sharemarket yielded an average annual return of 14%. For international markets during the same period, the capital index was 16.6%.
