Newspaper ad spending growth slows

Article Abstract:

The newspaper industry reports third quarter ad spending growth of only 3.4% over the same period last year, whereas the first nine months grew 5.6%. Possible reasons include a soft economy in general, a shift by advertisers to radio advertising, and the ongoing political drama. The industry and analysts will watch the fourth quarter closely for its percentage of growth, an important retail quarter for newspaper advertising.
