Pink slips without tears

Article Abstract:

The significance of procedural justice on employee reactions to layoffs is studied. Results show that companies can reduce negative reactions to layoffs by establishing a downsizing process that is perceived as fair by employees. This may include practices such as advanced warnings and the offering of acceptable severance packages. Dissatisfied employees can encourage negative impressions of the company. The treatment of laid-off employees also influences remaining workers' confidence in the firm.

New Labour, new management

Article Abstract:

Management strategies which may appeal to the The Labour Party include reversing the policy of downsizing the workplace and encouraging employee involvement and creativity instead. The Labour Party should focus on removing traditional hierarchies, making management training open to more staff, encouraging companies to invest in management training and encouraging managers to get involved with local communities. These changes could indicate a paradigm shift away from old Conservative attitudes.

Life without budgets

Article Abstract:

Corporations can cut the time-intensive and political process of budgeting by eliminating the budget all together and replacing it with other strategic management tools and techniques. Elimination of budget planning will free up about 20% more time that can be used for greater productivity. Performance can be monitored by tracking trends and not budgets. With business software, financial information can be available daily.
