Profits mixed in 1991

The Department of Commerce reports that after-tax profits of firms declined 4.5% in 1991. Earnings from 4th qtr 1991 were lower than earnings from 4th qtr 1990. Financial data for selected corporations are given.

Third-quarter profits fall slightly

The pretax profits of US companies slipped lower by $14.3 billion in the 3rd qtr of 1992 compared to the 2nd qtr, to an annual rate of $374.1 billion.
