Article Abstract:
The work of Starbuck and Mezias on managers' perceptions is appraised in the context of work from the behavioral decision-making field on heuristics and biases. The authors draw on research, theory and criticisms regarding of calibration of human judgement.

Contingent and antecedent roles are assigned to temporal aspects of partner alliances and member firm orientations to elucidate the concept of alliance horizons. Implications for empirical research are included.
