Recreation industry

Article Abstract:

The recreation industry is expected to have a good holiday season in 1998, and several companies in this sector will have double-digit growth. The industry is also expected to remain healthy through 1999 due to positive demographics and the expansion of cruise fleets, but investors need to be wary of recreation fads. These stocks are not timely in late 1998, but several have potential through the next three to five years.

Insurance (property/casualty)

Article Abstract:

Most of the stocks in the property and casualty insurance industry have fallen dramatically in 1998 as their financial operations have deteriorated during the year and these stocks are now trading at book value. Excess capacity remains a major problem for the industry for both large and small companies over the long term. Investors should select the most conservative stocks for consideration.
